Local Resident Aids in Arrest of Man with 36,000 Methamphetamine Pills in Phuket

A local resident assisted in the arrest of a man with 36,659 methamphetamine pills in Rassada, Mueang Phuket.

The Phuket Provincial Police told the Phuket Express that on Monday (November 6th) they and the Phuket City Police arrested Mr. Chanapon ‘Suea’ Bamroongwong, 36, from Rassada. Seized from him were 36,569 methamphetamine pills, a motorbike, and a mobile phone. He was arrested on Soi Patchanee in Rassada.

The arrest came after the Phuket City Police were notified by local residents that there was a man suspiciously driving a motorbike near their house, which is surrounded by forest. They were afraid that the man might try to steal something. When police arrived at the scene, they found only the motorbike. A bag was found left in front of the house.

Police found methamphetamine pills inside. Locals told police that the man ran away and left the bag. Suea was found hiding nearby, he admitted to police that he had left the methamphetamine pills in the bag. He said that he bought the drugs from an unidentified man. He used to hide the drugs in a forest in Kathu but later decided to hide the drugs here.

Suea was taken to the Phuket City Police Station to face charges of illegal possession of Category 1 drugs with intent to sell.
