Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced on Tuesday that Thailand will grant a 30-day visa-free entry to tourists from India and Taiwan, in addition to current existing countries, in a bid to boost tourism.
Announced after the Cabinet meeting on October 31st, PM Srettha said the policy will be in effect from November 10th to May 10th, 2024, to draw in more tourists since the high season is approaching.
Previously, the Thai government approved for Russian tourists to stay up to 90 days, increased from 30 days, on a visa-free program. This extension is scheduled for implementation from November 1st to April 30th, 2024.
Srettha said arrivals from India and Taiwan are relatively high recently. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for 30 days on this program.
According to reports, Indian visitors have become Thailand’s fourth-largest market for tourism this year, with approximately 1.2 million arrivals, following Malaysia, China, and South Korea.
The inbound tourism from India is also displaying growth, driven by increased attention from airlines and hospitality chains targeting this market.
