Thai Cabinet Bridges Holiday Gap to Make New Year a 4-Day Holiday

PRESS RELEASE:

BANGKOK (NNT) – The Cabinet has approved a change to the upcoming New Year holiday period to begin a day earlier, effectively starting on 29 December through 1 January. Government agencies may consider keeping their offices open, if the newly announced holiday disrupts their services.

According to Government Spokesman Chai Wacharonke, the Cabinet also approved an additional official holiday for government agencies on 30 December 2024, which will allow civil servants to have a 5-day holiday period next year.

Government agencies are asked to consider whether the newly announced holiday periods would affect their operations and services, and to adjust their closing dates accordingly to minimize the impact.

The Cabinet has also assigned state enterprises, the Bank of Thailand, and the Ministry of Labour to consider adopting the new holidays according to the related laws, which could make the new holidays applicable to state enterprises, financial institutions, and private firms.

The preceding is a press release from the Thai Government PR Department.
