Sea Turtle Rescued After Getting Stuck in a Net in Phang Nga

Phang Nga –

A green sea turtle was rescued after being stuck in a fishing net box at Surin National Park in the Khura Buri district.

Staff at the Surin National Park told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday (October 24th) while they were patrolling in the national park area, they found some floating fishing equipment. Inside the net box they found a large green sea turtle. The sea turtle was rescued from the net and released back to the sea safely

The rescue teams said that green sea turtles can weigh up to 200 kilograms and reach the age of 80. Its food is seaweed and jelly fish. Sometimes, unfortunately, they eat plastic as it looks like jelly fish. When plastic is stuck in a fishing net box it can attract the turtles, thinking it was a jelly fish, it then gets stuck in the fishing net box.
