Sea Turtle Released Back to Sea After Getting Stuck in Garbage in Krabi

An injured sea turtle stuck in garbage on Lanta Island in Krabi has been released back to the sea in Trang after treatment.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (October 18th) they released the previously injured Olive Ridley Sea turtle back into the sea. The sea turtle was found alive two months ago on the Klong Dao Beach in the Sala Dan sub-district.

It is 20 centimeters long, 28 centimeters wide and weighs 1.6 kilograms. When first discovered, garbage was found around the turtle who was struggling to swim and the turtle had an infected wound.

The turtle was treated for two months and recovered. A tracking microchip has been installed in the sea turtle before it was released back into the sea in Trang.
