Thailand Cracks Down on Illegal Weapons Across the Country

The Thai Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) launched a national-scale operation to eradicate illegal and improvised weapons users and dealers in over 47 provinces across Thailand.

At 6:00 AM, October 9th, 2023, Pol Lt. Gen. Jirabhop Bhuridej, Commander of the CIB, dispatched police officers, undercover agents, and special operations teams, in total up to 800 officers, on a crime eradication operation. The mission was to capture illegal and improvised weapons users, dealers, and smugglers in over 47 provinces across Thailand.


Pol Lt. Gen. Jirabhop stated that from the previous outrageous incident of a shopping mall shooting spree, there were many illegal firearms on the online market that could easily be accessed.
During the operation, there were 36 alleged offenders, 53 firearms, ammunition 1,581 units, and much more illegal equipment seized. The exact details will be officially revealed by the Royal Thai Police soon.
