Russian Man Drowns at Phuket Beach

Phuket –

A Russian man drowned while two other Russians were rescued from drowning at a beach in Thalang.

The Phuket Tourist Police told the Phuket Express that on Thursday (September 28th) they were notified of the incident at the Bang Tao Beach in Cherng Talay.

They and the Phuket Express arrived at the beach to find two Russians who had been rescued from the sea. They were taken to a nearby hospital.

Another Russian, who was later openly identified by Phuket Tourist Police as Mr. Abdulganiev Marat, 34 , was pulled out further to sea by waves during the rescue. He was later pulled back to the beach successfully by rescue teams but tragically he was later pronounced dead.

Lifeguards at the beach told the Phuket Express that the three Russians went swimming before beginning to struggle in strong waves. Good Samaritans nearby rescued two of them while the other man remained missing. They called for help before lifeguards went out on a jet-ski. Mr. Marat was later found face-down in the sea 200 meters from the beach.
