Phuket Welcomes Kazakhstani Tourists on Visa Exemption Scheme

Phuket welcomes tourists from Kazakhstan into the Thailand visa exemption program.

The Thai government’s free-visa policy for Chinese and Kazakhstani tourists has been endorsed in the Royal Gazette and published on Tuesday, September 19th.

Now for the update:

On Monday morning (September 25th) at the Phuket International Airport, officials and staff welcomed 166 tourists on a direct fight from Almaty in Kazakhstan.

The director of Phuket International Airport Mr. Monchai Tanod told the Phuket Express that almost double the number of tourists from Kazakhstan arrived in Phuket when compared with the same period before the Covid -19 pandemic.

There were 56,529 Kazakhstani visitors in 2019 and 109,865 in 2023 (latest update in September) arriving in Phuket. Most of them were travelling with families. They like to visit Phuket at the end of the year.

During the five months of the Visa Exemption scheme there will be an estimated 129,485 Kazakhstani tourists which will be a 49.7 percent increase from before the Visa Exemption scheme started. This will generate about 7.9 billion baht. It is expected that there will be a total of 150,000 Kazakhstan tourists by the end of this year.
