Phuket –
Phuket Immigration inspected a vehicle rental shop in Mueang Phuket after they were notified by concerned citizens that the business was allegedly entirely Russian owned and employed Russian staff illegally, without involving any Thai nationals.
Phuket Immigration officers told The Phuket Express over the past weekend that they had inspected a vehicle rental shop in Wichit, Mueang Phuket. A concerned citizen reported that the shop was allegedly owned by a Russian and employing Russians. The name of the shop was withheld by Phuket Immigration.
Immigration officers found that the owner had a legal rental vehicle business license. Two Russian men and a Kazakhstani man were also found with legal work permits. The Phuket Express noted that the officers did not reveal additional details about their work permits, such as the exact type of work they were allowed to perform.
Another Russian man in the shop was found to have an education visa. A Thai man was found working at the shop too, contrary to the tip that no Thai nationals were involved. The Phuket Express noted that officers did not mention if the Russian man with the ED Visa was working at the shop.
However, one of the Russian men who was found with a legal work permit is facing charges of being a house owner and allowing foreigners to temporarily stay at his accommodation without reporting the foreigners status to immigration officers within 24 hours.
