Heavy Rains Forecast for 33 Provinces, Including Bangkok

National —

The Meteorological Department of Thailand has forecast heavy rains for 33 provinces in the next 24 hours, with 70% of Bangkok expected to be affected.

The department on Thursday, September 14th, said that a ferocious storm has crossed over Myanmar, upper north Thailand, and upper north Laos, and is approaching with low pressure into north Vietnam and the Gulf of Tang Keiy. Another smaller storm from the southwest has overwhelmed the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

This may result in heavy rains in some parts of the north, northeast, central, and east of Thailand.

Citizens living in the affected areas are advised to be cautious of flash floods, especially mountain slope riversides and lowland areas. They are also advised to be vigilant when driving during thunderstorms.

The upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are expected to witness waves of 1-2 meters in height, with some areas experiencing waves of 2 meters or more during thunderstorms. Sailing during thunderstorms should be avoided.
