The Phuket provincial administration organized the “Phuket Tri Iyara” triathlon competition in an effort to bolster the economy of the province and establish it as a premier sports tourism destination.
This event falls under the ambitious “Phuket See Sports” project, aimed at promoting sports-centric initiatives.
The competition, held on September 10th, 2023, at the Sirinat National Park in Thalang district, saw active participation from over 502 athletes. Mr. Danai Sunantarot, Phuket’s Deputy Governor, emphasized the importance of this event in promoting Phuket’s image as a sports-oriented city, as well as an effective mean to rejuvenate the economy, especially in light of the post COVID-19 pandemic.
“The event not only provides participants with a challenging competition but also offers a chance to experience the captivating tourist spots in Phuket,” he said. “We hope that this initiative will encourage visitors to explore the various attractions in our province, ultimately contributing to its economic stability.
