Phuket –

A Chinese woman was arrested at the Phuket International Airport after she was found to be using other people’s passports.

The Phuket Immigration Office told the Phuket Express that on Thursday morning (August 31st) they arrested a 44 year-old Chinese woman at the International Terminal.

She arrived at the airport from a Shanghai Airlines flight. Officers found that the woman had used another person’s passport. Her face and the photo on the passport were similar, but not the same. Officers used the Biometric system to compare her face to her passport and the system reported only a 30 percent match.

The woman told officers that she had her face surgically changed recently but she was unable to present any surgery documents proving this. Officers contacted the airline to check her name and they found that her real name did not match with the passport.

The woman finally admitted to officers that the passport did not belong to her. She was taken to the Sakoo Police Station to face charges of reporting false information to officers and using other people’s passports which might cause damage to others.

Her name was not released by airport officials.
