The Phuket Tourist Association (PTA) in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Moscow Office and with the support of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, organized a roadshow to stimulate tourism in St. Petersburg, Russia, on August 1, 2023.
Mr. Pongsura Kupongsakorn, Secretary to the President of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, along with senior officials and three other representatives, led the team in collaboration with the President of the PTA and local entrepreneurs to attend the event.
In 2023, the Russian market ranked first for Phuket, with approximately 448,000 Russian tourists traveling to Phuket from January to July, representing a growth of 110% compared to 2019.
The event saw participation from 25 businesses from hotels, sea tour companies, and tourist attractions in Phuket. Moreover, over 65 representatives from Russian travel agencies in St. Petersburg joined the event, garnering significant interest. These agencies actively inquired and planned for the upcoming season. Additionally, the event featured updates about Phuket and also had a raffle for lucky travel representatives.
Mr. Pongsura Kupongsakorn, Secretary to the President of the Provincial Administrative Organization, commented, “We are confident that in the upcoming season, Russian tourists will set new records, surpassing previous years. We anticipate generating an economic value of around 61.6 billion baht. We are delighted to see the continuous positive recovery of the tourism sector and would like the people of Phuket to prepare themselves to be excellent hosts to our international guests.”
