Man Arrested in Patong for Selling Alcohol on Major Buddhist Day

A man was arrested in Patong after he was found selling alcohol on a major Buddhist religious holiday.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday night (August 1st) that they arrested a man at a restaurant in Patong. (His name and the restaurant name were not given by police)

The man was found selling alcohol to customers. He was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of selling alcohol on the Asarnha Bucha Day which is one of the major Buddhist holidays in which alcohol sales are banned.

Every Mid Summer in Thailand, usually July or August, is the start of Buddhist Lent, or Vassa. The exact date is the first day of the waning moon of the eighth lunar month.
