Thai Constitutional Court to Consider Case Regarding Pita’s Prime Minister Renomination

Thailand –

The Thai Constitutional Court revealed that they are considering a case involving Pita Limjaroenrat, leader and PM candidate for the Move Forward Party, from being re-nominated to become PM.

Our previous story:

The Office of the Ombudsman on Monday, July 24th, decided to ask the Constitutional Court whether Parliament’s decision to block Pita Limjaroenrat, leader and PM candidate for the Move Forward Party, from being re-nominated for the PM role is constitutional or not.

The Constitutional Court on Wednesday (July 26th) has issued a document about a recent meeting. The document states that on Tuesday (July 25th) the Office of the Ombudsman submitted a request with related documents to the Constitutional Court via electronic filling.

The request is asking the Thai Constitutional Court to consider if a parliament nomination for a prime minister candidate for the second time is constitutional or not.

The case is now being considered by the judiciary of the Constitutional Court.

As a result, any further prime minister voting is currently postponed as we reported here.
