Woman Arrested in Phuket with 50 Registered SIM Cards

Phuket –

A 27 year-old woman was arrested in Phuket with 50 registered mobile phone SIM cards.

The Region 8 Police told the Phuket Express that they have arrested a woman identified only as Ms. Bow, 27, at a gas station in Sri Soonthorn on Monday afternoon (July 3rd). Seized from her were 50 registered mobile phone SIM cards.

The arrest followed another incident last month when police found out that Ms. Bow had sent more than 1,000 registered SIM cards to Chiang Rai, Sa Kaeo, and other provinces near Thailand’s borders. Police are continuing their investigation to find out if those SIM cards are being used to do any criminal or illegal actions, for example call center scams.

Ms. Bow is facing charges with providing registered mobile phone SIM cards to others without proper identification.

Ms. Bow did not release a statement about the arrest or why she had the cards.
