A woman was arrested in Phuket for alleged fraud after posing as a famous online seller in Thailand.
The Highway Police told the Phuket Express that they had arrested a woman identified only as Ms. Pannapaphon, 30, in front of a mall in Wichit, Mueang Phuket on Sunday (July 2nd). The arrest came after the Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant on June 26th, 2023 and an arrest warrant from Chanthaburi Provincial Court issued on July 1st, 2023 for fraud and importing false online information.
At the beginning of last year, Pannapaphon alledgedly made a Facebook Page as ‘Pimrypie Sells Everything’. Pannapaphon defrauded others because they thought that the page was a real page and bought products from her. However, unsurprisingly, potential buyers did not receive products or a refund for their transferred money. Many victims in Thailand have filed reports to police.
The Phuket Express noted that the real Facebook page ‘Pimrypie Sells Everything’ is the top famous online shop in Thailand and is based in Bangkok.
Pannapaphon claimed to police that she did not know about the fake Facebook page. She said she was just a person who was hired by someone that she didn’t know to open a bank account. Her bank account was only used for transferring money.
Phuket police kept her in custody regardless as they examined the case and were skeptical of her claims that she didn’t know someone that she agreed to open a bank account for and didn’t know what the account was being used for.
