Phuket –

A boat crew member has reportedly gone missing after he fell from a fishing boat near the Racha Yai Island.

The Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command told the Phuket Express that they were contacted by a fishing boat on Wednesday (June 28th) afternoon. They reported to officials that a boat crewman had fallen from the boat while the boat was near to Racha Rai Island.

The boat crewman’s name is Mr. Chanarong Thonglam, a Thai national, 37, who is a boat mechanic. The fishing boat’s captain sent a request to other fishing boats nearby to help with the search but they failed to locate him.

As of press time the search continues but the weather remains rough in Phuket and South Thailand.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned of rain and possible flash floods in the north and northeastern parts of Thailand along with strong waves in the Andaman Sea in the South.
