Sea Turtle Rescued From Fishing Net at Beach in Thalang

Thalang –

A sea turtle has been rescued after getting stuck in a fishing net at a beach in the Thalang district.

The head of the Sirinat National Park told the Phuket Express that he was notified from a village headman in the Mai Khao sub-district about the incident. The sea turtle was found entangled in a fishing net. Locals helped to remove the fishing net from the turtle.

Wounds were found on its flippers. No microchip was found on the turtle which is a female Olive Ridley Sea Turtle measuring 51 centimeters long, 50 centimeters wide, and weighing about 20 kilograms.

The injured sea turtle was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center in Phuket.
