Sea Turtle With Lost Flipper Rescued in Phang Nga

Phang Nga –

A sea turtle which had lost one of its flippers has been rescued in the Tai Mueang district.

The Khao Lampi-Hat Thai Mueang National Park Office told the Phuket Express that they were notified from local villagers that an injured sea turtle which was still alive was found on a beach.

The rescue teams went to the beach to find an Olive Ridley Sea Turtle about 56 centimeters long and 55 centimeters wide. Its right flipper was missing. It is believed that the turtle might have been stuck in a fishing net which caused it some wounds and an infection on its flipper, leading to the unfortunate loss.

The injured sea turtle was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center in Phuket.
