A motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene after he crashed his motorbike into a luxury sedan in the Thalang district.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident after midnight (June 2nd) in the Paklok sub-district. They and Phuket Express reporters arrived at the scene to find the damaged motorbike and a helmet near a power pole on the central reservation. The body of Mr. Chaiyasit Tantirangsimapan, 48, was found nearby with severe head injuries.

The damaged Audi sedan was found with a broken windscreen . The driver, whose name was not given to reporters, was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. A female passenger in the sedan who asked reporters not to be named said that the motorbike rider made a U-turn immediately in front of their sedan.

Local residents nearby said that there were many road accidents at this spot because of the U-turn location and the speed of oncoming vehicles.

However, the Thalang Police are checking CCTV footage to find the cause of the accident for further potential legal action.
