An Australian man was fined 10,000 baht and paid 40,000 baht for damages after a road rage incident with a minivan in Wichit, Mueang Phuket. He also faced imprisonment for two months but he received suspension of his imprisonment sentence with one year probation.

Now, our update:
The Phuket Provincial Police told the Phuket Express on Wednesday (May 31st) that the Australian man was identified as MR. NAVALE LACHLAN and his friend riding with him was identified as MR. HAIDER RUBAY, an Emirati national (United Arab Emirates). The Phuket Express noted that Phuket Police originally said Mr. LACHLAN, Australian, was the driver, but then corrected that statement.
The Phuket Provincial Police told the Phuket Express that Mr. RUBAY, an Emirati national, was the actual driver but had fled immediately back to his country on May 29th the night after the incident after learning of possible legal action.
The Phuket Kwaeng Court has already judged the case. Mr. LACHLAN, Australian, who damaged the minivan side mirror, faced imprisonment for two months but he received suspension of his imprisonment sentence with one year probation. He was fined 10,000 baht and has to pay 40,000 baht to the minivan driver for the damages.
