1,000 Meter Long Fishing Net Removed From Underwater Reef in Phuket

Phuket –

About a 1,000 meter long fishing net was removed from a coral reef underwater in the Phuket sea.

The Phuket Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that on Monday (May 29th) they and volunteer divers inspected the underwater area at the Racha Noi Island in Rawai. The inspection followed after they received a complaint from the ‘MONSOON GARBAGE THAILAND’ Facebook page earlier this week.

The DMCR and divers found a fishing net a total of 1,000 meters long. Some parts were stuck on natural coral and some parts were stuck on artificial coral.

All parts of the fishing net was removed from the underwater area.
