Shirtless Man Arrested for Walking Around With Machete in Patong

Patong –

A shirtless man was caught in Patong after he was walking around while swaying back and forth a machete, scaring tourists and local residents.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident this morning (May 17th) near the Suwan Khiriwing Temple (Patong Temple).

They rushed to the scene to find the shirtless man, who was swaying around a machete and walking around the area aimlessly. Local residents were afraid that he might be a danger as there are lots of tourists in the area.

The man, who has psychiatric problems and is known to law enforcement, was finally caught by police.

He was taken to the Patong Police Station but would likely be transferred to a psychiatric unit for evaluation. The man’s name was withheld by law enforcement citing his mental health condition .
