Taxi Motorbike Rider Dies after Colliding with a Minivan in Phuket

Phuket –

A motorbike taxi rider died after his motorbike collided with a minivan in the Mueang Phuket district.

The Phuket City Police were notified of the accident at 5:50 A.M. today, May 13th, 2023, near an intersection on the Yaowarad Road in Sam Kong.

Emergency responders and the Phuket Express arrived at the scene to find the damaged motorbike lying on the road. Nearby was found the body of the motorbike taxi rider. The Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express that the rider was Mr. Korkuea Kunsatit, 54. He had sustained severe head injuries.

At the intersection was also found the damaged minivan with broken front glass. The driver, Mr. Nattapong Samart, age not given was waiting at the scene.

A witness, Mr. Jeerasak Kanwilaikun, 75, who is a food seller at a local grocery nearby, told the Phuket Express that the minivan driven by Nattapong was driving at high speed and crashed into the motorbike driven by Korkuea. Nattapong stopped his minivan about 100 meters from the scene of the collision.

The Phuket City Police are continuing their investigation for consideration of further legal action.
