Phuket –
A Nigerian man was arrested in Rawai for illegally entering the Kingdom of Thailand after he was deported for overstaying before.
The Phuket Immigration Office told the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (May 10th) they arrested a 40-year-old Nigerian man. His name was given as Harrison Shinonzo Onyema and he had illegally entered the kingdom, presumed to be through land borders.
Harrison had been arrested five years prior in Thailand for cocaine possession and overstaying and he was eventually deported to Nigeria.
However, Harrison returned to Thailand via a natural porous border, said Immigration Police. Harrison was taken to the Chalong Police Station to face further charges, admitting he had no legal passport or visa stamp.
Immigration Police have also warned Thai women about continuing romance scams in Phuket and Thailand. Police are continuing to crackdown with foreigners especially Nigerian men involved in the scam, although it was not clear if Harrison was directly involved in such a situation and nothing illegal was found besides Harrison’s lack of a legal visa.
Immigration Police added, however, that Harrison appeared to flush something down his toilet when police arrived at his home and delayed giving access to his residence.
Four Nigerian men were arrested in Rawai and Chalong with more than 1,200 days of overstays each.
