Trang –
Thai national park officials have clarified to the public the situation after a video clip of about 85 tourists floating in the sea in Trang caught attention on Thai social media and went viral.
A video clip of many tourists who were wearing life jackets floating in the sea in front of a sea cave went viral on Thai social media earlier this week.
The Head of the Hat Chao Mai National Park Mr. Parit Narasaritkun told Thai media, “The incident took place on Saturday May 6th. About 85 tourists were travelling with a two level tour boat from the Pak Meng Pier in Trang.”
“All tourists were led into the sea and were wearing life jackets for floating into the Emerald Cave as part of a tour program. The rope that the boat was tied to with a rock snapped while the boat crew was waiting for the tourists to return from their tour. After all the tourists came out from the cave, they had to wait for the boat for 20 minutes which had drifted some distance away before they safely got onto the boat.” Parit stated.
The Phuket Express noted that the video clip caught the Thai public’s attention after many news reports thought that the tourists were in danger while floating in the sea.
Nobody was injured, everyone was wearing life jackets, tour staff was present the entire time, and nobody was ever in danger, concluded Mr. Parit.
