A 56-year-old man died while a 57-year-old woman has survived after a domestic violence incident at a home in Wichit.
The Wichit Police were notified of the incident in the evening of May 9, 2023, at a residential home in a housing estate in Wichit, Mueang Phuket.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the house after an urgent call and found at a dining table the female survivor, identified by Wichit police only as as Ms. Manee, 57, who was still conscious, calm, and cognizant despite her wounds. She had sustained injuries from a gunshot wound that had grazed her face.
On the floor of the dining room police found the body of a man identified only as Mr. Jak, 56, from Chumphon. A single bullet wound was found to his temple. On a chair nearby was found a handgun with six bullets left inside.
Ms. Manee told Wichit police that she and Mr. Jak were a couple and had a verbal argument in which she made it clear she wanted to end her relationship with Mr. Jak.
Jak became enraged before he opened fire at her but missed vital organs and mostly grazed her face. Jak immediately shot himself following firing at Manee.
Wichit police are continuing their investigation as of press time and Manee was taken to a hospital for her wounds, which were non-life threatening.
