Whale Shark Spotted at Maya Bay in Krabi

Krabi –

A huge whale shark was sighted at Maya Bay in Ao Nang, Krabi.

Mr. Winit Toh Lang, 50, a long-tailed boat captain told the Phuket Express that over the past weekend he was travelling with a foreign couple from Loh Sama Bay heading to Maya Bay in the Hat Nopparat Thara – Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park.

When they arrived at Hua Laem 500 meters from Maya Bay, the whale shark swam close to the boat for about 10 minutes. The boat captain turned off the boat engine.

Both the tourists and the boat captain were very happy to see the whale shark which they had never seen before.

Whale sharks are only rarely seen around Maya Bay.

Last year two whale sharks were sighted near an island in Krabi, exciting locals and officials.
