Man Arrested for Illegally Catching Cuttlefish in Phuket

Phuket –

A man was arrested with a cuttlefish at Panwa Cape in Wichit and charged for catching marine animals in a protected zone.

Mr. Wissanu Jangjai from the Phuket Marine Resources Conservation Center told the Phuket Express that this week they have arrested Mr. Wansawat Sawatlong, 40, at Panwa Cape. Seized from him was one cuttlefish.

He was taken to the Wichit Police Station for allegedly breaking the orders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment announcement of the Environmental Area Protection Zones in Phuket.

Earlier this week:

A man was arrested with four black tip reef sharks at Panwa Cape in Wichit.

The Phuket Express noted both were arrested at the same area with warning signs to let people know that the area is a protected zone for catching marine animals.
