Phuket –

A suspect was arrested in Phuket after he allegedly stabbed and severely injured another man six years ago during Songkran 2017 in Prachin Buri.

Police from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) told the Phuket Express that they have arrested the suspect, identified only as Mr. Jirapong, 33, in front of a hotel in Sakoo, Thalang. He is being accused of attempted murder.

The arrest came after during the Songkran festival six years ago, while he was celebrating and drinking alcohol with his friends, he got into a fight with a teenager in Prachin Buri, Central Thailand.

Ten friends of the other party came to attack Jirapong during the argument. They used a glass to hit Jirapong in the face who then stabbed the victim twice before speeding away.

It was unclear why it took six years for Jirapong to be tracked down and arrested and the CIB did not immediately explain this fact.
