Pickup Truck Damaged, Driver Injured in Phuket Road Rage Incident

A pickup truck was damaged and a driver sustained injuries after a road rage incident with a motorbike rider in Phuket.

A video clip of a man in a red shirt hitting a pickup truck and a driver has gone viral on local social media.

The Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express that the pickup truck driver identified only as Mr. Suriya filed a report to police that the incident happened on April 23rd, 2023, on a road in Talad Nuea, Mueang Phuket.

Mr. Suriya was at a red light in the pickup truck with his wife and two year old child. The suspect, identified only as Mr. Narong, 30, used an iron bar 70 centimeters long to hit the front glass windshield of the pickup truck, the pickup truck’s side window, and Suriya’s arm. Mr. Suriya admitted that there was a road rage incident with a motorbike rider previously.

After the video clip had gone viral on local social media, Mr. Narong, who is the man in the red shirt in the viral video and his father presented themselves to police. Narong admitted that he hit the pickup truck and Mr. Suriya.

The Phuket City Police are continuing their investigation for further legal action and the specifics of the road rage incident that took place prior to Narong attacking Suriya were not made clear to The Phuket Express.
