Active Grenade Found Near Beach on Samui Island

An active hand grenade was found near an abandoned hotel at a beach on Samui Island by a local who was collecting coconuts.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Police (EOD) were notified from an unidentified local who was collecting coconuts in a coconut plantation near an abandoned hotel at the Mae Nam Beach on Samui Island on Friday (April 21st).

Colonel Panumart Taprat of the EOD Police told the Phuket Express that they arrived at the scene with the Koh Samui Police to find an M67 hand grenade which was still ready to use. It took about 15 minutes to remove the grenade from the area.

Colonel Panumart told the Phuket Express that even though the grenade was very old and rusty, it was still dangerous. They are continuing an investigation to find out who dumped the grenade.
