Two People Arrested for Allegedly Illegally Selling Cannabis in Phuket Town

Two shop owners were arrested for allegedly Illegally selling cannabis and selling cannabis on footpaths in Phuket Town.

A team of Phuket Provincial Officers and the Phuket City Police inspected cannabis shops in Phuket Town on Rassada Road and on Thep Krasattri Road on Friday night (April 14th), the Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express.

One shop was found selling cannabis buds without a license. The shop owner was taken to the Phuket City Police Station to face charges of selling controlled herbs (cannabis buds) without permission.

A second cannabis shop was found with a legal license but selling cannabis on a footpath, which is public space. The shop license has been suspended while the cannabis stall will be removed from the footpath.

The suspect’s names were not released by Phuket police. Phuket police also said they would continue a major crackdown on cannabis being sold illegally.

A man was arrested in Patong for allegedly illegally selling cannabis buds and being unable to present a legal license for selling cannabis.
