Phuket to Generate at Least 4.5 Billion Baht During Songkran, says Tourism Authority

More than 200,000 tourists will visit Phuket during the Songkran festival which will generate at least 4.5 billion baht, says the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

The Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Phuket Office, Mr. Lertchai Wangtrakundee told the Phuket Express that from April 13th to April 16th about 84 percent of hotel rooms have been booked. There will be 223,452 visitors which will generate at least 4.5 billion baht.

From April 13th to April 16th there will be 258 international flights with 48,302 passengers and 249 domestic flights with 37,056 passengers arriving in Phuket, Mr. Lertchai added.

More Chinese are coming to Phuket as well, according to Lertchai.

By the middle of this year, Chinese tourists will be the top visitors in Phuket. More Chinese tourists are younger than the past and they are spending more money. Mr. Lertchai noted.

As for now, however….

Russian tourists still topped the list of Phuket visitors in March followed by Chinese.
