Motorbike Rider Driving the Wrong Way Dies after Colliding with Sedan in Phuket

Thalang –

A motorbike rider who was riding on the wrong side of the road died after he crashed with a sedan in Thalang.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident on Monday (April 10th) on Thep Krasattri Road in Baan Liphon, Sri Soonthorn sub-district.

The rescue teams arrived at the scene to find Mr. Boonyarit Amornkomon, 43, stuck under the sedan. He was unconscious and was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The sedan driver, Mr. Mussaha Seng, 31, was uninjured and waiting for law enforcement at the scene. CCTV footage nearby shows that Boonyarit was riding on the wrong side of the road. The sedan was on the right side but lost control before crashing into the motorbike.

Mussaha told The Phuket Express that he was unable to stop because there was something stuck under his brake. He panicked and pushed the accelerator instead of the brake which propelled him into Boonyarit. He blamed Boonyarit, however, for driving the wrong way.

Police were still reviewing the incident as of press time.
