Pha-Ngan Island, Surat Thani –
A Kazakhstani man who admitted to having heavily smoked weed and drank beer damaged properties before running amok on the Pha-Ngan Island in Surat Thani.
The Surat Thani Tourism Association President Mr. Natnawat Sakda told the Phuket Express that on Sunday (April 9th) while he was on the island, the intoxicated Kazakhstani man was chasing after locals and trying to attack them at Rin Beach in Baan Tai.
The suspect also destroyed resort and restaurant properties. He jumped into the sea and ran around when relevant officers and locals were trying to catch him. However, the Kazakhstani man was finally caught. He admitted to police he smoked lots of weed and drank too much beer and was unable to control himself.
He also agreed to pay for all damages. Surat Thani officials did not release the name of the man since he agreed to take responsibility for his actions financially.
It was unknown if the man would be recommended for deportation or if he would face further charges.
