Phuket Taxi Drivers Face Legal Action After Fighting Over Customers

Phuket –

Two taxi drivers in Phuket are facing legal action after fighting, reportedly over who had jurisdiction over picking up customers at a hotel.

The Phuket Land Transport Office Chief Mr. Atcha Buajan told the Phuket Express on Thursday night (April 6th) that he received a viral video clip of two taxi drivers fighting on Patak Road in Karon. One of them was disappointed that the other picked up tourists in front of a hotel, which the upset driver felt was “his territory”.

A verbal argument ensued, in front of the terrified customers, which escalated to a physical brawl.

Both taxi drivers filed reports to the Karon Police, with both blaming the other party for the problem. An investigation is continuing in order to decide if both taxi driver’s driving licenses will be withdrawn.

In a similar incident in Krabi recently, the Krabi governor has ordered a solution to be found to the problem after taxi drivers in Krabi were found fighting for customers at Krabi Airport.
