An Australian resort boss was killed on his 57th birthday by the husband of one of his own employees who was apparently upset about her pay at a resort in Krabi.

Mrs. Wanna, whose full name on as withheld by police, who is the main suspect’s wife, said her boss accused her of embezzling resort money for more than 10,000 baht. She has denied the accusation and continues to deny it even after the murder of her former boss.
According to Wanna, her boss did not believe that she did not steal the money and wanted to deduct the amount from her final owed salary before firing her from her job. Mrs. Wanna told the story to her husband who became enraged and went to the resort, which also comprises a bar and restaurant, and murdered the victim with a knife.
Heppell had been celebrating his birthday at the resort when he was murdered, said the victim’s sister.
Other staffers at the resort told Thai media that their boss is a very kind employer but also has strict work standards.
Daily Mail in the UK reports that the victim was Mr. Peter Heppell, 57, from Perth, Australia. Mr. Heppell’s sister told Daily Mail that about twenty years ago in December, 2004, Mr. Heppell lost his six-month-old daughter in the Boxing Day tsunami. Mr. Heppell had survived the Boxing Day Tsunami as well as serious motorbike accidents previously.
Heppell’s sister said that Peter had been reunited with his baby girl in an emotional Facebook post on Tuesday.
Mr. Heppell was an A Grade Premiership player in the North Beach Football Club. He scored over 70 goals from 1985-1990.
The suspect remains in custody and is charged with murder and has admitted to the charges. He also denies that his wife stole any money and according to Ao Nang police has shown no regrets or remorse for his actions.
