Forty Two Baby Sea Turtles Hatch and Head into Sea in Phang Nga

Forty-two baby leatherback sea turtles have successfully hatched and headed into the sea in the Tai Mueang district.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express on Saturday in the early morning (March 25th) that they found traces of baby leatherback sea turtles that hatched from a nest in the Khao Lampi-Hat Thai Mueang National Park.

In total 42 baby leatherback sea turtles successfully hatched and headed back into the sea. Three baby turtles sadly died after they hatched.

Thirty-three eggs did not hatch.
