Driver Injured After Bus Crash on Patong Hill

Patong –

A driver has sustained serious injuries after a bus crash on Patong Hill.

The Patong Police were notified of the accident at 5:45 A.M. this morning (March 23rd) shortly after it happened at a curve locally called Pla Ra Curve (fermented fish curve) near the Suwan Khriri Wong Temple (Patong Temple).

Patong Police and the Phuket Express arrived at the scene to find the damaged bus crashed into a wall at the curve. The bus driver, Mr. Prayoon Nayao, 37, had injured his finger. No passengers were on the bus but a nearby wall and a power pole were damaged.

The bus was unable to operate.

The bus driver told The Phuket Express he was coming from Phuket Town heading to Patong Hospital to take staff for a seminar in Phang Nga.

He was unfamiliar with the road and believed there was a brake failure. He had just started to drive the bus one month ago.

However, the Patong Police are continuing their investigation and considering further legal action.
