78 Baby Sea Turtles Hatch and Head into the Sea in Phang Nga

Phang Nga –

Seventy-eight baby leatherback sea turtles have successfully hatched and headed into the sea in the Takua Thung district.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express a mother leatherback sea turtle laid eggs on January 16th, 2023, on the Bang Kwan Beach in the Kok Kloi sub-district.

This week 78 baby leatherback sea turtles successfully hatched from their eggs. The baby turtles then headed back to their home in the sea. Twenty – three eggs have not hatched. Thirteen of the baby turtles sadly died after hatching.
