Twenty-one baby leatherback sea turtles have successfully hatched and headed into the sea in the Khura Buri district.
The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express a mother leatherback sea turtle laid eggs on January 2nd on the Baan Thung Darb Beach in the Koh Phra Thong sub-district.
On Sunday, (March 5th), 21 baby leatherback sea turtles successfully hatched from their eggs. The baby turtles then headed back to their home in the sea. Eighty – seven eggs have not hatched. One of the baby turtles sadly died after hatching.
