Annual Phuket Heroines’ Festival Officially Announced

Phuket –

The annual Phuket Heroines’ Festival has been officially announced and it will be greater and more special than before, said Phuket authorities.

A press conference was held over the past weekend at the Thalang Historical Park in Baan Reang, Thep Krasattri, Thalang district.

The President of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization Mr. Rewat Areerob told the Phuket Express that the festival will be held from March 13th to March 15th, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. onward at the Thalang Historical Park in Thep Krasattri. This year it will be greater and more special than before, according to Rewat.

The key moment of the event is the historical performance of the Thao Thep Krasattri and the Thao Si Soonthorn. The two heroines and the ancestors of Phuket fought and sacrificed themselves with bravery for the protection of the land on which many still reside peacefully today. Famous Thai singer and actress Gam Witchayanee and Nui Sugira will be presented as the two Heroines in a reenactment.

There will be many other activities such as traditional light and sound performances, the selling of various products and local food from Phuket with more than 200 stalls, and a lot more.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand Phuket Office (Phuket TAT) director Mr. Lertchai Wangtrakundee told the Phuket Express that the festival is also intended to boost local and cultural tourism.

Chinese tourists are a new generation who are interested in local and cultural tourism, Lertchai added.
