Phuket –

Three suspects have been arrested with hundreds of E-cigarettes and hundreds of boxes of illegal cigarettes in Mueang Phuket.

A team from the Mueang Phuket District Office and the Phuket City Police raided a shop on Yaowarad Road in Samkong.

Officers arrested a man identified only as Mr. Yossiri, 24. Seized from him were 12 E-cigarettes in front of the unnamed shop. Yossiri admitted that he bought them from the shop.

Officers then arrested men identified only as Mr. Taewan, 20, and Mr. Panuwat, 23, at the shop.

Seized from them were 240 boxes of illegal cigarettes, 90 E-cigarettes and other items used for E-cigarettes and 13 bottles of illegal whisky. They admitted that they received 10,000 baht each per month for selling them.

The arrest came after officers received complaints that the shop sold E-cigarettes to students. All three were taken to the Phuket City Police Station to face being charged with offenses to the consumer protection law.
