87 Baby Sea Turtles Hatch and Head Back to the Sea in Phang Nga

Phang Nga –

Eighty-seven baby leatherback sea turtles have successfully hatched and headed into the sea in Phang Nga.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) reported that a mother leatherback sea turtle laid 126 eggs in December last year.

Yesterday, (February 20th), 87 baby leatherback sea turtles successfully hatched from their eggs. The baby turtles then headed back to their home in the sea.

Sixteen eggs have not hatched. Twenty -three of the baby turtles sadly died after hatching.
