A Russian man and his wife who are ex-pats who live in Pattaya were fined 20,000 baht after riding jet-skis in a protected area in Mueang Krabi.
A video of the two foreigners who were riding on jet-skis at a bay near Hong Island in Krabi, Khao Thong sub-district went viral on social media yesterday (February 19th).
The Krabi Marine Office told the Phuket Express that the video clip was recorded by a tour boat operator before informing relevant officials.
The two foreigners were identified by officials as a 47-year-old Russian man and wife. The husband admitted that he and his wife were the two people in the video. Their names were not released by the Krabi Marine Office.
The couple drove a car and towed two jet-skis from Pattaya for visiting beaches in southern provinces. They stopped at many beaches along the way to ride jet-skis. They said they did not know that it is forbidden to ride a jet-ski in this part of Krabi.
