UPDATE: Police Confirm Thai Woman Found Hanged in Patong Not a Murder, Canadian Man Detained Likely Not Involved

Patong, Phuket –

Deputy National Police Chief Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn has confirmed a Thai woman found hanged in Patong was not a murder victim and her Canadian boyfriend who was detained at an airport trying to leave Thailand was likely not involved.

Our previous story:

A Canadian man who was about to leave the Kingdom of Thailand is being questioned after his Thai girlfriend was found hanged in Patong. Her family does not believe it was suicide.

Now for the update:

Deputy National Police Chief Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn told the associated Thai press, “From a complete scene investigation by the Phuket Forensic Police and the Patong Police, evidence shows Ms. Wanwisa’s death did not involve murder.”

“A LINE chat showed that Ms. Wanwisa and her Canadian boyfriend had argued before about jealousy, but we believe this did not lead to a murder. The Patong Police has clarified this to her brother. However, we are still waiting for an autopsy to find the exact cause of death,” Big Joke added.

Her brother, Mr. Kreangsak Riwklang, told the Phuket Express that if the final autopsy results shows that Wanwisa ended her life by herself, their family will have to admit that the Canadian boyfriend was not involved and he will be cleared of any allegations and clear to leave Thailand.
