Legal Action Taken Against Three Illegal Taxi Drivers in Phuket

Phuket –

Legal action is being taken against three illegal taxi drivers in Phuket.

The Phuket Land Transport Office (PLTO) reported yesterday (February 14th) that from 9:00 A.M. to midday relevant officials set up a checkpoint near the Si Kor Intersection in Kathu where many vehicles were heading up to Patong Hill.

Three taxi car drivers were found using personal vehicles to transfer tourists as illegal taxis (Black Plates). Those offending taxi drivers will be fined and their driving licenses will be considered for 90 days of suspension.

The Phuket Express noted ‘Black Plates’ is a term commonly used by the PLTO to for a personal vehicle (with a white license plate, ironically) but they were found being used to transfer passengers as an illegal taxi.
