German Man Arrested for Stealing Brand Name Sunglasses from Russian Woman at Immigration on Phangan Island

Phangan Island, Surat Thani-

A German man was arrested after stealing brand named sunglasses from a Russian woman at the Immigration office on Phangan Island.

The Surat Thani Immigration reported on Friday (February 10th) that they have arrested Mr. MARCEL ALBERT MOHR, 31, a German national at a resort on Phangan Island. Seized from him was a pair of brand name sunglasses.

The arrest came after on Thursday (February 9th) police were notified of a theft from Miss Viktoriia Duka, 37, Russian national. She told police that she lost her sunglasses that cost about 24,000 baht at the Surat Thani Immigration Office on Phangan Island while she was doing her visa extension.

Police tracked down CCTV footage before identifying the suspect. Mr. Mohr told police that he saw the sunglasses out on a chair before he picked them up, stating he thought they had been abandoned and unclaimed.

He was taken to the Koh Phangan Police Station to face charges of theft.
